A Jewellery / Treasure / Taonga Box


Learn to make an elegant jewellery box with a fitted drawer in this 2 week class. Suitable for the intermediate / advanced woodworker, this course covers a range of techniques with both machines and hand tools.

Techniques covered in this class include:

o   Cutting perfect mitres

o   Cutting and fitting splines

o   Machining to fine tolerances on the table saw and thicknesser

o   Grooves and rebates on the router table

o   Hand cut through dovetails and half blind dovetails

o   Safe machining of small parts

o   Making and fitting a small drawer including slips

o   Crafting a wooden hinge

o   Veneering techniques

o   Glue up techniques

o   Finishing techniques

The focus of this class really is on precision and attention to the finer details. It is well suited to those with previous experience with machining and a foundation with hand tools. This is a busy 2 week class and depending on the pace of the group, we may also work the Saturday of the middle weekend to ensure a relaxing close to the course.
