Chasing the line is an exploration of line and form through the carving of a seed pod inspired form. Students will explore design, proportion, and emotive expression in form through the process and at the same time participants will learn important carving techniques (hand carving with chisels and knife), tool geometry, sharpening and tool maintenance.
In this process students are encouraged to explore aspects of the form and individualise the carving with their own ideas and interpretations.
This course is suitable for all carvers and those with more advanced carving skills can easily be extended.
Suggested tools to bring if you have them :-
Carving Knife- 60mm blade ( No longer ). Curved cutting edge- not straight.
7L 20 or equivalent ( Pfeil, Stryi, Fadir, M-stein etc)
Flexcut 11 piece carving set ( or equivalent )
Protective carving glove ( optional )
