Chairs are often considered one of the most challenging pieces of furniture to design successfully. Reed will discuss and demonstrate the important considerations of ergonomics, comfort, engineering, construction, and strategies for working through the design process.
Over the course of this two week course, students will create their own chair design, starting with a concept and working through the design to the point of completing a resolved prototype. Students will leave with the knowledge and skill to be able to undertake chair and seating projects at home.

Master classes are frequently available to assist students to move from project–based courses to their own design and make, or to learn a new complex technique or process from one of our visiting tutors.
