CFW Community Talk Series - "Designing & Making a Chair" with Stuart Faulkner
CFW
Stuart Faulkner gave a presentation on the art and process of chair making, drawing on his extensive experience as a furniture designer, maker and educator. His approach to teaching brings together creative thinking and technical precision, guiding students through the process of conceptualising, designing and building a chair from the first ideas on paper through to a full-scale piece.
Stuart will explore the principles of chair design and construction, including proportion, structure, joinery and the importance of testing ideas through drawings and full-scale mock-ups. With a career spanning design, cabinet making and furniture education, he brings a thoughtful and practical perspective to the challenge of creating chairs that are both beautifully designed and precisely made.
