Furniture Makers’ Programme - 2023

I attended the Furniture Maker’s Programme in 2023, and it was the perfect introduction to fine woodworking. The exceptional tutors, beautiful setting, and supportive learning environment are unparalleled in New Zealand. After taking time to consider my career direction, I discovered what CFW had to offer and knew I wanted to become a designer-maker. The programme was informative and challenging, transforming how I approached design and deepening my understanding of fine woodworking. From visiting David Haig’s home workshop to chip-and-chat carving evenings with Hape Kiddle, it offered countless memorable experiences. If you’re on the fence, just do it. The programme gave me both a passion for design and a career in the furniture industry. CFW was a special chapter in my life, and I’m grateful to everyone who helped write it.
